As Chief Merchant of Black Paper Party, Jasmine Hudson has a busy December! So we are extra pleased she took the time to chat about her favorite day of the week with us. The self-described “fun loving foodie with a passion for representation” looks forward to Sundays as a day to reset, recharge and get psyched for the week ahead.

When she isn’t at a new resturant, checking out the art scene, or planning my next adventure, she is “working to ensure Black and Brown faces are seen, included, and celebrated through great products from Black Paper Party. If you can see it, you can be it!”

Below Jasmine shares more about her favorite day and shows off her Soft Silks Days of the Week briefs to match. We loved getting to know Jasmine and the Black Paper Party team during our shared time in the Workshop at Macy’s program, where they won the Vendor Pitch Competition. A thank you from all of us for making us rethink our approach to Sundays!

Uwila Warrior: What is your favorite day of the week?

Jasmine Hudson: Sunday Funday, of course!

UW: How come?

Jasmine: It’s my reset day. I don't get the Sunday scaries because I'm excited for the week ahead through the self care and preparation that happens on Sunday. I get to reset spiritually, I set out my clothes for the week, I try my best to meal prep, and I also leave room for grace if I just need to sleep in. Sunday is my grace day to mentally center myself and pour into myself before I pour into others in the week ahead.

UW: How does the day start for you?

Jessica: I do not have a Sunday alarm. I allow my body to naturally wake up, I usually open my eyes around 7 and get moving around 8am. I listen to music — I am really into South African Amapiano genre at the moment. I make some tea, eat an acai bowl (no I don't make them fresh, lol! Definitely from the freezer), and stream a church sermon or two!

UW: What about the afternoon?

Jasmine: In the afternoon it's about prep. I'm either doing laundry while watching Netflix, cleaning the house while blasting gospel music, or out and about running errands which can include groceries or getting my eyebrows and nails done.

UW: What does a perfect evening for you look like?

Jasmine: I love a good Sunday wind down. The house is clean and I am ready for the week. What's left to be done? I may journal and look over my to-do list, or I'll grab me some ice cream or wine and find a good movie to watch or audio book to listen to.

UW: What habits or moments during the day give you strength?

Jasmine: Stopping to breathe! The moment I feel anxious, I do not power through. I stop everything, realize that I am in control and I have survived 100% of my bad days. I box breathe then get back to the task at hand.

UW: How do you power down at night?

Jasmine: I listen to rainstorms on YouTube and completely pass out.
